How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of Windows Operating System?

How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of Windows Operating System? This is the question pondering in my mind for quite some time? But, before searching for the answer to that question I learned, what is the difference between the 32-bit and 64-bit version of Windows? After getting some knowledge on 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, then I questioned to myself which version of Windows should I install whether 32-bit version or 64-bit version? and how do I tell if my computer can run a 64-bit version of Windows?

The computer processor can be categorized into two, that are 32-bit and 64-bit. The computers performance and type of the software, the computer can handle depends on the 32-bit or 64-bit processors.  Hence, the term 32-bit and 64-bit refers to the way a compute’s processor (also called CPU) handles information. For Example, Intel Itanium-based computers can run only 64-bit versions of Windows.

In a computer with the 32-bit processor, only 32-bit version of an operating system should be installed but the 64-bit version of an operating system cannot be installed.

In a computer with the 64-bit processor, both 32-bit and 64-bit version of an operating system can be installed. However, the 32-bit version operating system cannot run with full swing in a 64-bit processor.

This is about 32-bit and 64-bit version of Windows.

Which version of Windows should I install: whether 32-bit version or 64-bit version

Installing a 32-bit or 64-bit version of the operating system depends on processor capability. If the processor is 32-bit compatibility, then 32-bit version operating system should be installed, On the Other hand, if the Processor is 64-bit compatibility either 32-bit or 64-bit version operating system can be installed.

But, if your CPU is capable of running a 64-bit version of Windows, then it is advisable to install a 64-bit version of Windows instead of the 32-bit version of Windows. 64-bit operating system benefits more when you have a large amount of random access memory (RAM) installed on your computer, typically 4 GB of RAM. The 64-bit operating system can handle a large amount of memory more efficiently than a 32-bit operating system.

How can I check, if my computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?

This procedure is to find out if your computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows in windows 10:

If you are running a 64-bit version of Windows 10, 64-bit Operating System is displayed in the System type field under the System heading. If you are running a 32-bit version of Windows 10, 32-bit Operating System is displayed in the System type field under the System heading.

From the system information, it is evident that the computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows. Since the processor is the x64-based processor, the computer can run a 64-bit version of Windows.
